Welcome, I’m Irina Khvalova

I started Colourphill in 1998 with the belief that design is a process that converts ideas and words into a desired outcome, and production management is the catalyst that facilitates this process.

BIO

Before founding Colourphill in 1998, Irina worked as a senior designer at uhlig.ca and at AON Hewitt, a leading North American human resources consulting firm. These experiences gave Irina a unique perspective on the business of design – from both the designer’s and the client’s points of view. Her creative, production and consulting experience helps Colourphill’s clients minimize the business risk associated with implementing creative and design initiatives.

Irina is an Associate of the Ontario College of Art and Design. She is also a longtime member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario (RGD). Passionate about teaching the next generation of designers, Irina has taught Print Production at OCADU and has been involved in the RGD’s Mentorship Program and Portfolio Review sessions for the last 10 years.

Irina has been a creative director for clients such as Bank of Montreal, Northland Power Inc., PepsiCo Canada, Eli Lilly Canada, HP, IBM, Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario, Start Proud and, more recently, Health Quality Ontario (HQO).

Irina’s personal passion is food and packaging design. She is Advisory Board Member for Canadian Women in Food – a social enterprise connecting women in foodservice industry.

Hi there, I’m Ellen Rumsey

My strengths lie in brand development and management across print and digital media. As a designer and writer, I am a stickler for details and logical storytelling – to make sure each client’s visual and written voice are on brand in a creative and effective way.

Hi, I’m David Rumsey

My role is to design and implement end-user experiences that are innovative, elegant and robust. I specialize in custom solutions for intuitive user experiences – from web development and applications to ensuring that AODA requirements are met.

Hello, I’m Margaret Lam

I specialize in insight gathering, user-centered design practices, and developing and implementing digital and content strategies across various media and platforms. As a producer and manager, I ensure our projects stay on target and on time.

Cheers, I am Nicholas Li

I am a video producer enthusiastic about shaping ideas through images, movement, and timing. My work has taken me on location to the Canadian Arctic, the US, and Asia. I’ve produced communication videos centred on messaging as well as documentaries focused on personal stories of lived experiences. I approach video as a way of seeing, believing that how a story is captured often carries as much weight as the story itself. Curious and observant, I discover the world through the lens and occasionally wonder what it would be like to step through the looking glass.

In my role as designer, I work on a wide range of projects for government, business and packaging clients. I have a background in fine arts, and appreciate the opportunity to use traditional and digital media in finding creative solutions for every client.
